
The Kefalos region is situated in the southwestern part of the island of Kos. There are many things to see and do in Kefalos but above all Kefalos is highly appreciated by all because of its numerous extraordinary beaches that attract visitors from all over the island. Some beaches are popular and very crowded, others are characterized by their choppy waters and attract kite surfers and wind surfers while others are stunning but difficult to reach. There is a beach to suit each and everyone.
The Kefalos Bay, with Kastri island standing out in its midst embellished by its gorgeous little church, with the unique ruins of the Aghios Stefanos Basilica right by the beach is the most picturesque place on the island of Kos and a visit is an absolute must.
There are also quite a few monuments to visit if you can get away from the beach for a few hours: an ancient theater, a number of Basilicas, a couple of major medieval Castles (the Kefalos Castle and the Kastelli Castle, some beautiful Churches ideally placed in singular places with simply astonishing views….
But Kefalos is also renown for its wild more rugged untarnished natural beauty. If you go beyond the actual village you will be encounter wonderful places such as Aghios Theologos, the Tripiti area, Cavo Paradiso, Cape Krikelos… just to name a few. If you feel in an adventurous mood those are definitely places for you.
So all in all there are plenty of things to see and do in Kefalos. Enough to keep you busy during your stay.
