Cavo Paradiso is certainly one of the most beautiful beaches on the island of Kos. It is also quite secluded as you need roughly half an hour by car to get there from Kefalos. Right up to the Monastery of Agios Ioannis the access is easy as there is an asphalt road but things get a bit tougher just before reaching the Monastery where you have to take a dirt road that veers off to the left, taking you towards Aghios Mammas and Cavo Paradiso . As you come down to the beach you will notice, spread out at your feet, the spectacular, breathtaking view of the shoreline. There is even a little rest/view area where you can stop and take a few pictures or just take the time to appreciate the view. The waters are stunningly beautiful with colors ranging from turquoise to deep blue and the beach stretches for a few kilometers, so even if the dozen or so umbrellas are taken, you can drift away from the crowds and find your own little private area. As you move further away towards the west you will reach a part of the beach with a Cedar forest in the background where some people like to camp and spend a few days in peaceful solitude. Then if you still feel adventurous you can go to the end of the beach (it is a very stony/rocky part and you will msot probably need some shoes) where you will find a cave and an interesting rock formation. If you venture towards the east you will need to strain yourself as the way is filled with hurdles. If you surpass the obstacles you will finally get to the Hilandri Caves but you will find that access is nearly impossible if the sea is stormy.
Some people spell this beach’s name with a K (Kavo Paradiso) in order to differentiate it from the one in Mykonos. Last but not leasthere is also a small bar if the need for refreshments arises and a few sunbeds although they are usually taken very early on in the day…
Enjoy!!!!
