Top ten beaches on the island of Kos

There are many amazing beaches on the island of Kos.

A great number of them are actually right next to each other on the large stretch of sandy beach in Kefalos, a beach that starts in Kardamena and ends at Paradise Beach. In fact most of the best beaches on the island are to be found in Kefalos and since the area is underdeveloped or protected to some extent as opposed to most of the rest of the island, the landscape has maintained a more original, untarnished, authentic and sometimes even wild feel and look. In more populated or touristic areas of the island the natural environment has been altered to a large extent to cover the needs of the many. Dunes have been eliminated while roads and paths have been built relatively close to the water. Organised and easily accessible beaches have become the norm.

Choosing the best beaches was not easy as there is inevitably a Kefalos bias. I have tried to keep a certain balance and have looked at different criteria such as popularity, accessibility, available amenities, remoteness, positive vibes, environment… and finally came up with the final ten best beaches presented in this article.
