Hiking from Zia to the top of the Dikaios Mountain takes about an hour and a half to two hours. It is a pleasant walk although, I would recommend you avoid the heat if you are not in relatively good shape, especially during midsummer days as there is a lack of vegetation at the top and the going really gets tough. The best time of the day would be early in the morning so as to avoid getting caught at the summit during nightfall although the shelter that has been built there is kept in very good condition. You can sleep there in case of need or if you organize it that way in advance. A large dirt road will take you from Zia to the trail (you can also go by car up to that point). The trail is relatively narrow, takes you through woodland, while the trees get scarcer as you approach the summit. It is quite steep sometimes, and mostly rocky until you reach the plateau at the top. Comfortable walking shoes are a definite must, and don’t forget to take a lot of water with you, you will be needing it. The natural beauties and the spectacular views are well worth the hike and effort. Unfortunately the trail does not appear on Google maps so I wasn’t able to add a map. In any case ask around in Zia if you need any help, the locals will be happy to give you instructions and get you on your way to hiking from Zia to the top of the Dikaios Mountain…
